Following the SKIP training in the region we will be developing SKIP Cymru, a research project to assess the impact of the SKIP programme on children in Wales. The project mirrors work being developed in the University of Strathclyde. Students from teacher education and physical education degree programmes will be trained to assess the motor skills of the children before and after a programme of SKIP. research from the USA suggests that impact of early motor development is important for lifelong engagement in physical activity and enabling progress in physical literacy.
