Dr Nalda Wainwright


Nalda is director of the Wales Institute for Physical Literacy (WIPL) at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. She is programme director for the Masters in Physical Education and co-director of the International Physical Education Research Methods Summer Institute.

Dr. Peter Herbert

Dr Peter Herbert Peter is an internationally renowned physiologist, having been the fitness coach for the Welsh Rugby team as well as working with numerous international athletes. Peter has spent a lifetime in sport and physical activity previously competing in world indoor rowing championships. Dr Andy Williams

Andy leads the research activity of Wales Institute for Physical Literacy (WIPL). Most recently he has developed a new approach to outdoor activities in Physical Education with a focus on authentic adventure experiences and decision making.

Dr Simon Williams

Dr Simon Williams (PhD, FHEA), lectures in exercise physiology, epidemiology and public health in the School of Sport, Health and Outdoor Education. Simon’s research interests have focused on the epidemiology of obesity and physical activity, in particular the metabolic and vascular disturbances associated with visceral adipose tissue and the effects of exercise training, the association of cardiorespiratory fitness, obesity and metabolic syndrome in children and the identification of barriers to physical activity in socially disadvantaged [...]

Dr Kate Williams

Sports Therapy
Kate Evans Kate has over 13 years’ experience working mainly in professional rugby union as a Sports Therapist; assessing, diagnosing, treating and rehabilitating rugby related sports injuries. Kate’s areas of expertise include Sports Trauma Management, Screening and Injury Prevention, Sports Specific Rehabilitation and Contemporary Treatments in Sports Injury. Kirsty Edwards

Kirsty Edwards Kirsty is the Physical Literacy Programme for Schools (PLPS) manager for South West and Mid Wales.  Through the Targeted Intervention Programme for Schools (TIPS), the PLPS also aims to support delivery of the Welsh Government’s strategic priorities for Closing the Gap and the Government’s commitment ‘to make physical literacy as important a developmental skill as reading and writing’. Dylan Blain

Dylan’s expertise lie within Physical Education and Youth Sports Coaching. Within these areas he is an advocate of student centred approaches that develop young people holistically. To that end he utilises game-centred approaches to competitive activities and promotes the use of Sport Education (Siedentop, 1995) as a model that provides authentic sporting experiences for all pupils within PE. David Gardner

David’s background is in exercise physiology and biomechanics of sport; he has provided technical support to athletes and teams up to and including international level. More recently, his interests have concerned how exercise and nutrition can be used to improve health, prevent ill health and rehabilitate after illness.
